Go on a tour of the DeLorean Motor Company’s new production facility in Humble, TX. You, too, can get a brand new DeLorean just like Marty & Doc in Back to The Future, minus the time travel. (#1069, 2/23/08)

They have a Stage 2 performance upgrade for the Delorean engine that adds 70 more horsepower to the stock engine. There is a Stage 3 in development now rumored to have 300 hp. It’ll probably be a turbo version of the original engine. The engines are very reliable. Volvo used them for racing back in the 70’s and 80’s. Renault used the engine in the A610 which was a fast car in it’s day.

what they didn’t update is the engine which is a beast.

no the exact number believed was 8,583, with the first being built in January of 1981(VIN 0500) and the last being built in february of 1983 (VIN 20104)

I love this car! It is the best car ever built, and I will try my hardest to buy one someday.I’m glad they are back in production.

Also it is rumord that the liqudated D’s came into the posession of the company that became Big Lots. Check ebaymotors every once and a while and a D or 2 will show up with NO miles from the same seller. so there has got to be more than what is said.

sorry but i have to correct the original 9000 cars i know that there was at least 16000 built. my grandfathers is in the 16000 vin series

i like the bit modern marvels did on this car, and it was refreshing to see they didnt metion back to the future, as the delorean is still cool and stylish in its own right, though i’m sure it wouldnt be anywhere near as popular with btf.

Nice video .. I have one of these cars. I bought mine in 1982 … #4181 :) Sadly, it’s been garaged for years. Still in excellent shape but rarely sees the road.

  13. jammer96 Says:

They update the engineering, but keep the same 80’s look.
