How can I learn how to mod cars for track racing or street racing without going to school?

I like racing and cars but don’t know jack **** about them. I would love to look under the hood of a car and know what everything is. I don’t have any friends that know about modding cars either so that won’t really help. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I want to start racing probably on track but maybe street but I need to know how people learn this kind of things.

Is there a big disadvantage to importing Japanese cars to the UK to make up for the lower cost?

prince_of_persia_returns asked:

Well, I’ve been thinking about buying a Japanese sports car, but in searching online for different ones I keep on getting links to websites that specialise in importing (2nd hand) Japanese cars to the UK. In some cases, the cost is around 30-40% cheaper than an equivalent car in Britain.

Also, the Japanese seem to take better car of their cars in general as the condition of the vehicle has a bigger impact on the resale value in Japan.

So what is the disadvantage?
I’m thinking about getting a Nissan 350z (Fairlady in Japan).

How do American cars differ from foreign competitors?

Author: admin  |  Category: Other - Cars & Transportation
Heather Bree asked:

This is a hommework question for my management class on strategic planning. The question states:
In your opinion, what are the core competencies in the auto industry such as GM, Chrysler, and Ford? How do these competencies help them compete with foreign makers such as Honda, Toyota, Nissan and BMW?

I looked around at all their websites, and the general impression I get is that American cars seem to emphasize performance and innovative body designs. The foreign makers seem to more simplistic in body design and emphasize vehicle longevity. Do you think I’m on the right
track, or do you have another suggestion?
I think I need to clarify that I’m not looking for suggestions on what car to buy. This is a homework question for a MANAGEMENT CLASS. Please consider the question from a management and corporate perspective. What are their marketing strategies?

Does the car industry oils company’s certified individual oils for the manufactured cars as in the past?

Author: admin  |  Category: Other - Cars & Transportation
prawn74 asked:

Looking at cars and the car industry in the past all different car manafactures using specied oils for there vehicles and today there seems to be a unversal oils that are used in all types of cars instead of having individual oils .In my opinion it will affect a cars performance as manafactured oils are even specified for the type of metal used in the car engine and gearboxs. All motor industry must have specified oils as even the magnetic compressed engine conversion for petrol engines need crank case oil as iit has a all aluminuim engine block and aluminuim head so the magnetic field will not be interfered with.

Is it dangerous to leave cars air conditioning on while car is off?

My mom says if you leave your cars air conditioning on when you turn the car off, so it automatically is on when you turn your car on, that it hurts the engine. Is that true or is she full of BS? It sounds like complete BS to me.
